Catastrophic Accident and Illness
A Catastrophic Accident and Illness endorsement is available for unexpected traumatic injuries or severe illnesses. This limited coverage offers insurance for specific types of injuries and listed illnesses (see below), but does NOT insure for diagnostics or treatments unless listed. This endorsement is NOT available on a stand-alone basis, but it can be added to a Full Mortality policy.
What you need to know:
Available for horses 30-days old to 20 years of age with a Mortality policy.
$5,000 limit available per policy period, regardless of horse’s insured value.
Deductible of $375 before the policy will respond.
Pre-existing conditions may NOT be covered, whether or not a claim was filed. Companies will review a horse’s health history on a case-by-case basis to determine the exclusions.
