He is the Past President of the Kentucky Association of Fire Chiefs, Past 2nd Vice President of the Southeastern Division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, and a former Board Member of the Kentucky Fire Commission. In 2020, he was named Fire Chief of the Year by the Kentucky Fire Chiefs and the Kentucky League of Cities. He also received the City’s Medal of Honor for heroic rescue efforts in 2013.

Married to his wife Stephanie for over 26 years and father to three adult daughters, Nathan is deeply committed to his family, faith, and community. He remains active in public safety advocacy at the legislative level, both state and nationally, and began a new chapter in 2025 as a Risk Management and Strategic Growth Advisor with Sterling Thompson Company.
