Nikki Young, CIC, CISR
Vice President of Operations and Training
Nikki graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2002 with a BA in Public Relations. In 2003, she began her insurance career as an Account Manager with Liberty Mutual Insurance. Nikki has over 20 years of experience in Personal Insurance and agency management. She currently holds the Certified Insurance Counselor & Certified Insurance Service Representative designations. Nikki joined Sterling Thompson in 2019 serving as the Director of Personal Insurance and Vice President of Operations/ Training.
When out of the office, Nikki enjoys spending time with her husband, Travis and 3 children, Zach, Morgan & Madison.
Stephanie Barrett
Personal Insurance Advisor
Stephanie Barrett is deeply committed to Louisville’s philanthropic community, with a particular passion for the arts and youth athletics. A former member of the Lakeside National Team, Stephanie competed throughout high school while attending Sacred Heart Academy. Her lifelong love of swimming evolved from competition into teaching children and young adults essential water safety and swimming skills.
Stephanie’s appreciation for the Arts was shaped early during her time at St. Francis School of Goshen (now Francis Parker School of Louisville). Today, she continues to support the creative community through her role as President of the Great Meadows Foundation.
Stephanie graduated cum laude from Miami University in 2010 with a double major in Journalism and Spanish. Following graduation, she spent five years working alongside her father, Steve Hall, gaining valuable experience in real estate. In 2014, Stephanie transitioned into personal insurance with Sterling Thompson Company. Drawing on her diverse professional background, she provides clients with a strategic advantage in managing risk, offering expertise not only in homeowners insurance but across a broad range of personal insurance solutions.
Amanda Besore, CISR
Personal Insurance Team Leader
Amanda began her insurance career in 2003, as an Account Manager with Liberty Mutual Insurance, giving her over 20 years of experience in Personal Insurance. She currently holds the Insurance Service Representative designation and is working on her Certified Insurance Counselor designation.
When not in the office, Amanda enjoys baking, crafting, and spending time with her husband Josh, their 2 sons Landon and Liam, and her dog Lucy.
Melanie Bland
Personal Insurance Service Specialist
Melanie Bland joined Sterling Thompson Company in January 2018 as a Personal Insurance Service Specialist, where she provides clerical support to members of the Personal Insurance department. The majority of Melanie’s work experience, since graduating high school, comes from her employment in the insurance business. She has served both on the insurance company side and broker/agency side. Melanie obtained her Property & Casualty Insurance license in January 2007 and regularly attends continuing education classes to stay up-to- date on the industry. She enjoys being outdoors as often as possible, especially going to the beach, and is also an animal-lover. Melanie likes to travel, spend as much time as she can with friends, family (and pets), and go for long bike rides in the park with her husband.
Tina Bonham
Personal Insurance Rating Coordinator
Tina Bonham joined Sterling Thompson Company as a Personal Insurance Rating Coordinator in July 2024. Tina is a Kentucky native who started her journey into the insurance industry at SGT, previously working as a school director and teacher for two decades. Her prior background gives her a strong desire to help others and an attention to detail that she hopes to apply to her work and in building client relationships.
In Tina’s spare time, she enjoys reading, crafting, photography, and DIY projects. She also enjoys spending time at her home on the lake in Shelbyville, KY that she shares with her high school sweetheart husband, their two kids, three dogs, and their bird.
Angie Brashear
Personal Insurance Account Manager
Angie began her insurance career in 1995, working with a temporary employment agency at KEMI. Little did Angie know, that “temporary” job would result in a more than 25-year career in the insurance industry.
Although spending many years working in business insurance, along the way she transitioned her focus to serving individuals and families with their personal insurance needs. She joined the Sterling Thompson Company Personal Insurance Team in 2019. With the growth of her own family, Angie realized the importance of tailored coverages, ensuring that each client has the most comprehensive coverage package suited to their individual needs.
When not at work, Angie enjoys camping, walks with her dogs and spending time with her family.
Callie Crockett, CIC, CPRIA
Private Client Practice Leader
Callie was born and raised in Louisville, KY. Upon graduating from Southern Methodist University, she spent 2 years as a Morning Anchor in Tyler, TX. In 2011, Callie began her career in insurance working for a large brokerage firm in Dallas. In 2013 she returned to Louisville to work for Sterling Thompson Company. Callie is especially connected to SGT as it’s where her grandfather, Tom Wall, worked for the last 10 years of his life.
Callie’s main area of focus is serving the needs of Sterling Thompson Company’s personal insurance clients. While she works with a wide variety of clients, she has specific expertise in assisting financially successful individuals and families. She has extensive background in analyzing the unique risks of these clients, and tailoring insurance programs that offer peace of mind.
Callie is married with two sons. In her free time she enjoys playing golf, reading, cheering on the U of L Cards.
Kim Dennis
Personal Insurance Account Manager
Kim Dennis came to Sterling Thompson Company in 2014. She has over 36 years of experience in the insurance industry. She is extremely attentive to her client’s needs, and does everything she can to make sure their needs are not only met, but exceeded. Kim knows that no single solution is the right one for every customer, so she always takes a personalized approach to helping her clients with whatever their unique needs may be.
Kim resides in southern Indiana with her husband Allan. She has 1 child and 3 step-children who have blessed her with 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. In her spare time she enjoys scary movies and playing with her Chihuahua, Sophie and her cats, Luna and Tuna.
Beverli Gadlage, ACSR
Personal Insurance Account Manager
At age 19, Beverli Gadlage walked into her local insurance agency to discuss an accident—and walked out with an interview scheduled for the following week. That unexpected opportunity led to a successful interview and the start of what would become a rewarding “accidental” career in the insurance industry.
Beverli joined Sterling Thompson in 1997 and is proud to be a valued member of the Personal Insurance team. Over the years, she has built strong, lasting relationships with her clients and is dedicated to ensuring their insurance needs are met with care and attention.
Outside the office, Beverli enjoys a full and active life with her family. She is married, with two grown children, two granddaughters, and one beloved grand-dog. She and her husband love exploring the country on their motorcycle, relaxing on beach vacations, and spending time with family and friends at their lake house. She also enjoys cheering on the University of Louisville Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers—Go Pack Go!
Melanie Holbert
Personal Insurance Account Manager
Born and raised in Louisville, Melanie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Theatre from Bellarmine University. During her time there, she completed internships with notable local organizations including the Louisville Palace and the Kentucky Center for the Arts, gaining valuable experience in communications and client engagement.
Melanie joined Sterling Thompson Company in February 2019 and is proud to be part of the personal insurance department. With a strong background in customer service, she is passionate about building meaningful relationships and providing exceptional support to her clients.
Outside of work, Melanie enjoys spending time with her husband and their pets. Together, they love traveling, tackling creative home projects, and making memories with family and friends.
Mary Gordon Hobbs
Personal Insurance Analyst
A native to Louisville, Mary Gordon attended Sacred Heart Academy. She then graduated with a BA in Economics from Centre College where she was a member of the women’s basketball team. After completing school, she returned to Sacred Heart Academy where she worked for five years as an Assistant Athletic Director and Basketball Coach. Prior to joining Sterling Thompson Company, she spent seven years at PURE Insurance, a personal insurance carrier specifically designed for financially successful individuals and families. While at PURE, she held a variety of roles, most recently as a Territory Manager working with broker partners throughout the Midwest. It was there that she developed a deep understanding of the importance of protecting what matters most, and creating specifically tailored personal insurance solutions.
Outside of work Mary Gordon enjoys staying active, spending time with friends and family, and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats! She lives in Saint Matthews with her husband, Nick, their daughter, Janie, and beloved Golden Retriever, Doc.
Karen Lauyans, ACSR, CISR, CPIW
Personal Insurance Account Manager
Karen began her insurance career in 1982 while still in high school as an office assistant. She then moved into the customer service representative role gaining experience, knowledge and her Property and Casualty license. Karen also holds the Accredited Customer Service Representative and the Certified Insurance Service Representative designations. She joined Sterling Thompson Company in 2005 and strives to provide outstanding service to her clients.
Karen was married to her high school sweetheart Kevin for 33 years. She has two wonderful children, a son and daughter, and has been blessed with two grandchildren. In her down time, she enjoys working Sudoku, crosswords, puzzles and spending time with her pets and family.
O’D Lee
Personal Insurance Advisor
O’D is a seasoned insurance professional who combines deep industry expertise with a personal commitment to protecting his clients’ assets across the country. After earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and Master’s degree from Spalding University in Louisville, O’D pursued a range of professional experiences that shaped his approach to risk management.
His early career included competitive tournament golf in Florida and a role with a family-run real estate conservation and catering group in New York City. While there he managed historic property restorations, business development and event planning from beginning to end. These experiences provided O’D with unique insights into property values, risk assessment, and client service most importantly.
Since 2009, O’D has built a thriving boutique insurance practice in the Locust Valley area of Long Island. As a dedicated Property and Liability specialist, he serves as an advisor to generations of discerning clients between New York and California including everywhere in between. His expertise is grounded in customized solutions and ranges from straightforward homeowner’s coverage to intricate family entities as well as domestic and international commercial exposures.
O’D is a Long Island native and now lives just miles from his childhood home with his wife Rachel and their three children: Charlotte, Gus, and Foster. His strong family connections extend to Louisville through his sister Virginia and multiple Kentucky cousins. O’D’s personalized service approach combines technical expertise with genuine care for the friends and family whom he advises and protects.
Allie Medley
Personal Insurance Account Manager
Allie began her insurance career in 2018. She worked alongside her mother to help with anything she could to learn the ins and outs of the industry. In 2023, she joined Sterling Thompson Company and began her career as a Personal Insurance Service Specialist. She hopes to grow with the company. Allie is passionate about working directly with her clients to ensure they receive superior care and coverage. Her goal is to leave a positive impact on her clients and be a positive light for her colleagues.
Allie currently resides in Lexington, Kentucky and is a proud dog mom of her Jack-Russel-Hound mix, Merida. During her free time, Allie loves trying new restaurants, going to CycleBar, and traveling.
